Weekend Update

Friday:
  • Caroline got off work at noon! I love summer and early Friday's!
  • Matt worked late :(
  • We went over to our friends just to chat and hang out. Convinced them to play a board game, Pandemic. When our friend realized it was 12:30 a.m. and we still weren't done she kicked us out (perhaps lovingly, it was late)! She has a new baby and her 'shift' with him (taken from her husband) starts at 2 a.m. We told her not to worry, we were just having best friend time. She disagreed.
Saturday:
  • Matt went shotgun shooting with the elder's quorum.
  • Caroline cleaned and did other "important" tasks.
  • Met our friends at Pei Wei for a delicious dinner.
We got to use our mad chopstick skills!
  • Went to the movies and saw Now You See Me. Amazing! I totally recommend it!
Sunday:
  • Caroline slept in. Matt went for a bike ride that didn't end so well when he got a flat tire. Caroine rescued him. (He was mad I took this picture, by the way).
    The great bicycle rescue.
  • Went to a farewell for one of Matt's co-workers. She did such a great job speaking! We wish her well as she heads to West Virginia!
  • Had dinner with Matt's boss (who is also a friend). Had a great Sunday night playing with his family -  4 fun, wild kids. I perfected my razor scooter skills :) Had a great time feeling like a kid again.

Party in the CIA

Our Hollywood debut. And I'm not sure how I kept a straight face in this - I'm never this serious!! (This was a music video written, directed, and edited by Matt's boss' son, Ethan. He's in Junior High. It was a school project).

Birthday Boy

Several weeks ago (whoops, sorry for the late blogging) we celebrated Matt's birthday! He basically had a weekend full of fun. Saturday night we went out with my family and had dinner at The Garden. The best part about a birthday dinner at the garden is they give you a balloon, and then you get to make a wish and let it go through their open roof. So fun!

Matt posing before he makes a wish!
After dinner we went to the Utah Symphony. It was all John Williams music.

Sunday we headed up to his family and had a Cinco de Mayo dinner, a pinata, and he was spoiled with some great presents (no pictures, bummer).

A very fun weekend!

A Beautiful Thing...

Recognize this?

It's a brand spanking new water heater. Let's be honest, in reality this isn't very exciting. But after taking cold showers for 2 days...I'm in love!!

Quilting

Back in January my friend and I made a goal to make a quilt this year! This is quite ambitious of us, because neither of us have made a quilt before nor are very good at sewing. But we figured if we just worked on it together for a few hours every month, we could finish by the end of the year!

Last night we got together at May and cut our blocks. It's starting to look like a real quilt (its a chevron quilt)!

This is mine starting to come together - a blue and brown color pattern. Erin's is shades of yellow.

Erin is domestic!

Hooray!

Hooray for Friday! It's almost the weekend (and a 3 days weekend too)! Can't wait to spend it relaxing, BBQing, and hanging out with family and friends.

Unknowingly...

I think I have unknowingly become a crazy cat lady. I was looking through the pictures I've taken on my phone and the majority are of my cat, Lily. By the way, most are of her sleeping because when she is awake she doesn't hold still long enough to let us take her picture!

She has grown a ton since we first brought her home.

The moral of this story is I better figure out other things to take pictures of before I become a crazy cat lady...

Matching

Sometimes Matt wears similar things to his co-workers. Apparently they think alike. See this below picture? Similar, but not the same.

Last week Matt went to went and was matching one of his co-workers. Literally matching. Hilarious (and awkward)!

Secret Agents Anyone?

Do secret agents ride wiggle cars? Not sure...but we did last night!
Our friend Ethan (Matt's boss' son) asked us to help him make a music video for one of his classes (he's in jr. high). It was to Weird Al Yankovic's 'Party in the CIA' - a spoof on Mylee Cyrus' 'Party in the USA'. Hilarious! Now Ethan has to edit the video in his class. Stay tuned for the final edited version - our Hollywood debut! (I'll post it here when he finishes!)

Vegas Getaway

This has unintentionally become somewhat of a travel blog. That's not really my intention of the blog, but, it is what it is!

Last weekend we went to Vegas to celebrate our 7th anniversary (7 years flew by, I don't feel old enough to have been married 7 years)! It has always been on my bucket list to stay in the Bellagio in a room overlooking the fountains, and Matt made it happen.

That's the view from our 26th floor room. Awesome!

We didn't take a ton of pictures on our trip. We spent the weekend sleeping in, laying out at the pool, shopping, watching the fountains endlessly from our hotel room, and eating delicious food. We also saw Ka at the MGM, which was amazing.

Street view of the fountains. We just had to see how they compared on the street to our view from our room. We decided they are just fun to see either way!

This is supposedly the world's largest chocolate fountain. It's at one of the cafe's in the Bellagio. You can even buy the chocolate from it. We had breakfast here one day, and ended up getting free chocolate covered strawberries because we had to wait for our food so long (because someone else took it)! The chocolate strawberries were definitely worth the wait.

Just exploring the City Center. What girl wouldn't love a giant shoe?

Our last night in Vegas we ate at the Sugar Factory, a restaurant in the Paris hotel. This is our dessert. A giant red velvet sundae. It was delicious.

It was a great anniversary weekend!
